Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching and I am very excited with it. It is like few hours to go and it is Christmas.

Christmas is the most important celebration of the year. It is the day of the nativity of Jesus Christ our Savior. It is celebrated throughout the countries of the world. Christians are known to be the ones who celebrate Christmas. But then at present, even non-Christians do celebrate it.

It is a season of giving and showing of love. Some people give something to their love ones and exchange what they have. Some buy gifts and some make out of something and be creative. They give those gifts as a symbol of their love and care.

It is also known to be the season of forgiving others. People ask forgiveness for the bad things they have done unto others. They ask forgiveness to make a change and make a new start together.

Christmas is indeed a season of hope, joy and celebration. It is not just about of what we receive but what we also give to others. It is the belief, the faith and the spirit that matters. The feeling of helping others can't be compared of receiving a material gift. Looking at the smiles of the people you had helped makes you feel so much better than ever.

end of class of year 2009 *learning blog*

During the last week of class towards Christmas, school activities were no longer hectic because some teachers went on vacation early. We were really happy with that week for it was just like a week of vacation too. I was also as well as a little bit frustrated because some teachers did announce a week before that we were going to have our preliminary exams the following week but then when that week came, one of the teachers who said we will the exams was already out. I don't know where she was that time. Maybe I was too eager to take the said exam then that I felt frustrated. All I think during that time was to at least finish some subjects to lessen the burden in studying while enjoying the Christmas break.

Even if there are lots of things we need to do during our break, still, nobody can stop anyone to enjoy the celebration. Merry Christmas everyone!

Our meeting in English two last December 8 was all about fun. Why? Because first, we had a paragraph writing game. It's not as easy as you think for we will write the composition in group. Each person is required to write one sentence. And the sad part here is, we are not allowed to teach our other group mates what to write. We also had this word challenge as the next game on the very same day. I'm not good in words, or in vocabulary but then still I find it enjoyable since we are all working on it. Thinking what words should be written on our papers is the challenge.

Last friday has been quite busy for English two, section A3-2. That day was the deadline of our assignment. Our assigned task for that week was to look for samples of articles of the different methods of paragraph development. Each pair were busy cutting the articles.

It was then a week's full of fun learning experiences with our classmates in English two. Having the two fun games, we learned the need of the three important factors in writing a paragraph - unity, coherence and emphasis. And because of the assignment, we can now at least differentiate the different methods of paragraph development.

We haven’t met our English two teacher last Thursday since she went to Manila for an important matter. But then though no class last meeting, she assigned activities for us to also keep ourselves busy. As ma’am said, “Why should I keep you busy? Writing is a skill and good writing does not develop overnight. Just as you never learn to swim by being in a lecture class or shoot a ball by only watching the game, so you will never improve your writing by just listening to a lecture in writing or reading about it.” Ma’am is so right and so we should make ourselves love writing. Writing needs practice to be able to get used to it and make it easier for us.

As to our major subject which is accounting, we already had started having our discussions about partnership. It is a good thing as well as bad thing for me. Why? Because I had a bad start on that one and I need to get good scores in the next quizzes because I’d failed one major quiz. Though disappointing, to be able to make it up for that failing quiz, I need to do extra effort.

Another long week learning experience for everyone has ended.

english 2 first two meetings..

It all started with a greeting, “Good morning class.” And yes, we finally met our English two teacher last November 24. Surprisingly, we met a different one from whom we expect. She really doesn’t look like in her profile picture on her blog site when we saw her. And when she started talking, she has this pleasant voice so nice to hear.
A rule was then imposed during our first meeting that we need to follow. We have to speak in English in her class or else, we have to entertain our classmates through singing, dancing, etc just because of using the vernacular. I do think most wouldn’t like to be in front doing such.
Second meeting on our English two class last November 26 was another day of learning. Though she brought along her “cutie daughter” in class, we still have the attention to listen to her discussion. She taught us how to make our specific topics and thesis statements better. She is really good at it.
I really had a great first two meetings in English two.

What I think and feel towards writing in English.

As a student, I feel more comfortable writing in English than in Filipino or any other language. I find it easier and convenient to express my thoughts in English. This is because I and I should say all other students had been exposed to the English language since elementary. The English language had been the medium of instruction in school. Text books are written in English except for some few subjects.

If you write in English, you already have an inherent advantage. You can reach a wider audience and could be easily understood. More people and nationalities use the English language. Widely considered as a universal language, English as well is dynamic. No wonder why it is the preferred language used by the writers worldwide. Even in the internet, the English language dominates. Web sites and blogs are written in English.

I believe it really pays to write using the English language.
